I looked to you

I was always searching

Searching for something

Something to make me better

Better than I thought I was

Was searching to be enlightened

Enlightened about what I thought I should know

Knowing that I did not quite fit

Fit into the spaces that surrounded me

– That was around me-

-Beside me-

-Within me-

So I looked to you

You were meant to complete me

Me…Who was I?

I did not know the answer to that

That was what you were to help me figure out

Out of the seeming defects that consumed me

I looked to you to restore me

-But you could not-

You challenged me in many ways

But not in ways I needed

You excited me in diverse ways

But not in ways that lasted

I looked to you to complete me

To make me whole

To fill the cracks

To make sense of me

-But you could not-

So I kept searching

Searching for something…

“And the very hairs on your head are numbered. So don’t be afraid”-Luke 12:6
