As I went about my day and was winding down at work, I got restless with the noise of the world around me (this happens often – the world is a noisy place), and just wanted to retreat into a place where my soul could be edified with the words of Truth, with a focus on God. And then it happened. It clicked. I stumbled on an album that I usually stumbled past on my “Prayer-focused worship” playlist. Until today, I have only ever listened to one song on this album. After today, this album has now become the current anthem of my life. Isn’t it funny what happens when it clicks?
For the next couple of weeks, I will be posting lyrics to songs on the album “If we’re Honest” by Francesca Battistelli, accompanied by original images, and a synopsis of what it means to me. I hope that it inspires you as it is inspiring me as well. Please feel free to share your thoughts, comments, or questions as you read through the words of the songs.
The first song to be posted is the first song on the album titled “Write Your Story”.
What does that even mean?
Do we ever think about that? Writing our story? Some of us may have a story we’d like to write, while some of us may not have any idea of where to start. I have been in both places, and I can say that both places are not a bad place to be in. I simply ask – what are you doing about it? And more importantly, MOST IMPORTANTLY, are you checking (through the Word of God and daily conversations with Him) to make sure that what you want or what you do not want is in line with God’s will? Is your story in line with HIS story for you?
Psalm 139:16 lets us know that “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed” (NLT).
There is a story already written about you. Do you know what it is? Do you want to know? Are you willing to find it out?
It may just surprise you what is written about you in that story. As Francesca Battistelli says;
You’re the King of everything
The One who taught the wind to sing
The Source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating
You can give the blind their sight
And You can bring the dead to life
You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I do, that You can make me new, oh
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
So do with it whatever You like
I don’t know what Your plan is
But I know it’s good, yeah
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
In You, so do what You do, oh
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Come on and write Your story, write Your story won’t You write Your story on my heart
Go ahead and show this world
What You’ve done in me
And when the music fades
Write Your story, write Your story
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
